The "Midnight in Bucovina" illustration is all about home. I was born in Romania, and Bucovina is the northeastern part of the country. The nature is incredible, Bucovina being famous for those lovely wooden houses on the hills, painted with traditional motifs.
History is present at every corner through the remarkable monasteries build around 1500. The one I loved most is the "Voronet Monastery", hand-painted with an exceptional blue shade, called the Voronet blue. I visited Bucovina in winter when the land turned white, and history became magic.
This illustration soothes souls far away from home with joy, nostalgia, dreams, and fantasies of the past.
